About:
Developed from Mongolian horses at least 900 years ago, the Agaba Dark Horse is not new to Inner Mongolia, and in fact, is one of the most famous breeds there. However, it was only in 2009 that the Agaba Dark Horse was officially recognized as a breed by the Chinese authorities. Today, wild herds of this rare breed still roam the prairies of Inner Mongolia, and serve as a tourist attraction, and breeding stock.
For centuries, Agaba Dark Horses were admired for their excellent endurance and decent speed. Today, the local tribes use them for racing and various traditional riding events, as well as for general riding. In addition, the mares produce high quantities of milk, and are milked regularly.
Conformation:
Contrary to most other breeds, there is some variation in the conformation of Agaba Dark Horses, which can vary between one horse to another.
In general, though, most Agaba Dark Horses have small ears, large eyes, a profile which can be straight or convex, a long neck, a long back, a sloping croup, small hooves, and a muscular build. The mane is usually short or medium in length, and the tail is long.
