Finland's official sport horse:
The year 1926 was a cornerstone in horse breeding in Finland. The Association for Warmblood Breeding was born, and with it born Finland's official sport horse. Originally an athletic cavalry horse, the breeding aim eventually shifted fully toward breeding a horse that will carry Finnish riders into the Olympics.
The official breed standard of the Finnish Warmblood was formulated in 1995, and revolved around breeding an easygoing sport horse that will excel in Olympic disciplines. Today, the Finnish Warmblood, which is known as FWB, is common in Finland and is doing well.
Breeding:
Compared to other sport warmblood breeds, the Finnish Warmblood has a relatively closed studbook. Only a small selection of the very best European sport warmblood breeds are accepted into the Finnish book. Thoroughbreds are accepted as well if they fit the breeding criteria.
Note that in Horse Isle, due to the difference in conformation between the Finnish Warmblood and the other sport breeds with which the FWB is allowed to be crossed, you may get a non-FWB foal.
Conformation:
Finnish Warmbloods are large horses, standing at least 15.3hh, and having muscular bodies. Overall, their conformation is similar to that of other sport warmbloods, and it is characterized by a long neck, prominent withers, a long back, and long legs.
The mane is fine and is either short or medium in length, but the tail grows long.
