The Friesian Sporthorse is a sport breed which is created by crossing a Friesian with one of several specific sport breeds.

NOT a Friesian Sport Horse:
The Friesian Sporthorse should not be confused with the generic Friesian Sport Horse, because the latter is not an official breed and refers to any Friesian crossbred. That said, the Friesian Sporthorse can be considered as a specific type of Friesian Sport Horse.

Breeding:
In order to be accepted for the main book of the Friesian Sporthorse Association (FSA), a horse must be a cross between a Friesian and a European Warmblood Sport Horse from a pool of several breeds, or a cross between a Friesian and a Thoroughbred, a Georgian Grande, an Andalusian, a Lusitano, or a Knabstrup.

That said, in Horse Isle, breeders should avoid using Knabstrups or Andalusians/Lusitanos, because crossing these breeds with a Friesian will always result in an Imperial Heritage Horse or in a Warlander, respectively, not in a Friesian Sporthorse.

In addition to the above, Friesian Sporthorses must have between 25% and 99% Friesian blood, and therefore it is allowed to cross Friesian Sporthorses with Friesians. In Horse Isle, in order to get a purebred foal, Friesian Sporthorses are allowed to be crossed only with Friesians or other Friesian Sporthorses.

Conformation:
In general, Friesian Sporthorses often look slimmer and more athletic than Friesian horses, and have thinner and shorter manes, tails, and feathering. However, the exact conformation of Friesian Sporthorses can vary between one horse and another because it depends on their non-Friesian parent.
