The Ganzi is a subtype of the Tibetan horse. It is well-adapted for carrying heavy loads up the mountains of Tibet, which are among the highest mountains in the world. Mares are also raised for their milk.

Compared to the 'typical' Tibetan horse, Ganzi horses have large chests, and longer necks and legs. The rest of their conformation is typical, meaning that they have a short head with small ears and a straight profile, a straight back, and sturdy legs and hooves. The mane and tail can grow thick.
