About:
In the 1950s, the residents of Guanzhong region in China faced a problem: the local horses weren't strong enough to transport the amounts of food required by the region. Therefore, a quest was set to develop a stronger type of horse.
Budyonny and Karabair horses were imported from the Soviet Union, and were crossed local Chinese mares. In 1958, Ardennais horses were imported and added to the mix. The result was a stronger horse with excellent endurance and sufficient pulling-power. The new breed was named Guanzhong.
Conformation:
Guanzhong horses are medium-sized horses with a wide build, a thick and crested neck, a straight profile, and sturdy legs that lack feathering.
