The Halter Appaloosa is a sub-type of the Appaloosa, developed to serve as a halter horse rather than a ranch or trail horse.

About:
Halter is a discipline where horses are not being ridden, but are rather led by hand and are judged based on their appearance and movement. The ideal horse in halter classes for Appaloosa is a horse who is stocky and muscular, and whose conformation resembles that of a Halter Quarter Horse (see American Quarter Halter Horse.)

Breeding:
Unlike 'generic' modern Appaloosas, who can be crossed with Arabians, Thoroughbreds, and Quarter Horses, the list of approved sires for Halter Appaloosas lists only Quarter Horses. This makes sense, given that Halter Appaloosas should have a conformation that resembles that of the Quarter Halter Horse. Therefore, in Horse Isle, Halter Appaloosas can only be crossed with Quarter Horses or with other Appaloosas.

Conformation:

Compared to the 'ordinary' Appaloosa, Halter Appaloosas have a slightly smaller head that can have a straight or a slightly dished profile, and they hold their neck at a higher angle. Their body is heavier and more muscular, and their hooves can be slightly smaller.
