The Latvian Sport Horse is the modern form of the Latvian breed. It was developed in the second half of the 20th century, by crossing Latvian Riding Horses with Hanoverian, Holsteiner, Dutch Warmblood, Swedish Warmblood, Oldenburg, Danish Warmblood, and Selle Francais horses. Hence the parentage requirement for Latvian Sport Horses in Horse Isle.
Today, Latvian Sport Horses are still allowed to be crossed with all of these breeds, in order to ensure the constant improvement of this breed. They serve primarily for show-jumping and dressage.
Latvian Sport Horses come only in bay, black, brown, chestnut, and, in rare cases, grey. Their coat is always solid, although they can have prominent facial and leg markings. This means that breeders should pick breeding stock carefully, andavoid improper coat-colors. Latvian Sport Horses stand between 15.3hh and 17.2hh.
