The Light Datong is a subtype of the Datong breed, which is lighter and more suitable for riding than the second subtype of the Datong breed, the Heavy Datong.
Light Datongs come in the colors of bay, chestnut, black, brown, and grey. They usually have solid coats, though leopard coats are found as well. White markings are either absent or limited to face and lower legs. Light Datong horses stand between 12.3hh and 13.3hh.
