The Polish Arabian is a subtype of the Arabian horse, which was developed in Poland.

The Arabian horse's arrival at Poland:
Arabian horses were introduced to Poland as early as the 15th century, as spoils of war during the Polish-Ottoman war. The Polish people started to breed their Arabian horses during the 16th century, and following the truce with Turkey at the end of the 17th century, they were able to import additional purebred Arabian horses for their breeding program.

In the 20th century:
In 1914, World War I erupted, and many Arabian horses were confiscated from the breeding program in order to serve as cavalry mounts. By the end of the war, out of the hundreds of Arabian horses which participated in the breeding program, only 25 mares were left. However, the Polish people didn't lose hope, and in 1926 they established the Polish 'Arabian Horse Breeding Society,' before importing new stallions, and continuing with the breeding of Arabian horses.

In 1939, World War II erupted, and the Polish breeding program of Arabian horses faced possible destruction once again. Polish breeders did their best to protect their horses, but unfortunately, most of the horses were lost during the war. After World War II ended, Polish breeders imported Arabian horses from Hungary and Russia in order to re-build the national breeding program, which was later considered by the Polish government as a national treasure.
