The Sokolski is a type of a Polish draft horse. It is named after Sokolka County in northern Poland where it originated.

A breed older than its county:
Sokolka County was named in 1998, but horses have roamed the area for many centuries before. They were small in size, but they were adapted to the cold as well as to the local poor pastureland. They were also strong enough to toil through the soil of the fields up until the beginning of the 20th century, when progress in agriculture required even stronger horses for the job.

Breeders crossed their mares with heavy draft stallions imported from other European countries, especially with Ardennais and Breton stallions from France. The result was a new local draft horse that--although not as strong nor as large as the other breeds mentioned--was still a perfect fit for the Polish farmers.

The Sokolski - a versatile Polish draft:
Although defined as a 'heavy draft', the Sokolski is lighter than other draft breeds, including its cousin the Stzumski (see 'Stzumski'). This allows the Sokolski to be a versatile draft, one that serves for recreational riding and driving as well as for light draft work.

Although the Sokolski is one of several Polish Draft subtypes, it has its own studbook and is bred in a purebred manner. Therefore, in Horse Isle, crossing Sokolski horses with non-Sokolski ones will result in a non-pure foal.

Performance metrics:
The following are the: range, average, (SD), and MOE of performance metrics of ordered Sokolski drafts in Horse Isle (not bred ones). In rare cases, horses might have metrics outside of the range. Breeders can produce horses that are beyond this range.
