About:
Arabian horses have roamed Syria for thousands of years, and the Syrian horses are their descendants. Syrian horses have the speed and endurance of their Arabian ancestors, as well as their ability to cope with the harsh climate of the Syrian Desert.
Today, Syrian horses are mainly bred by Syrian Bedouins, and are used for riding and racing.
Conformation:
The Syrian has an overall 'Arabian' conformation, characterized with a short back, large eyes, and slender girth and legs. The mane is silky and of medium length, but the tail can grow long.
Although looking like an Arabian, the conformation of the Syrian is still coarser and more moderate than that of modern Arabian horses. The most noticeable difference between the two is in the profile of the Syrian, which is concave but not to the same extent as the dished profile of the Arabian.
