Compared to the other types of Tibetan horses, Yushus often have a wider head than average, and a level neck carriage. The rest of their conformation is similar to that of an ordinary Tibetan horse.

Colors: usually bay, grey, and brown, and more rarely, black, chestnut, dun, and cream-dilutes*.
* There are no official records for double-cream-diluted Yushus, only for buckskin and palomino ones. However, since there are no official color restrictions in this breed, then homozygous cream is allowed in Yushus in Horse Isle.
